An accurate alkaline assumption?

I added a little more Alk than normal while setting up new DOS and Trident. Pushed my reading up to the mid 11’s. I want to run lower. Maybe 8.5. Is my current Alk consumption the same when Alk is high as it would be when my readings are lower? It has been dropping last 48 hours. No Alk dosing during this time. Just calcium and kalk.

nope. Alkalinity ought to be consumed more quickly if it's high.

^^ Alk is going to be consumed faster when more is available. Consumed slower when less is available.
