I have had my nano up and running for almost a year now and it is a great little tank, but recently I have had a strange brown almost looks like brown thread alage turn up after changing bulbs, salt and my chemi pure elite. I have never had any other algae in this tank except for coraline and the occasional bubble of bubble algae. I change out about a gallon of water a week and do basic glass wipe down and manually top off with 0 TDS water. I have ran the tank no light for two days and it was gone but as soon as the light came back on there it was again. It goes away at night but comes back during the day. It isn't out even with ambient sunlight in the room only with the tank lights.

Tank: 5.5 gal
Lighting is Current 2x18w t5-ho with UVL aquasun and superactinic and current 4 led strip
Filter: Modded AC 70 with chemi-pure elite, purigen and cheato
5lbs or so of live rock and sand

SG 1.025-.026
Cal 380
Alk 10
Mag 1350
Nitrate 0
Phos 0
Temp swings from night of 78ish to 80ish during the day.
Thanks for any suggestions or comments. This stuff is annoying me. The only coral it seems to bother are my zoas everything else seems fine.

Alarge and interesting thread to read. I'm assumimng this is just the standard old peroixide we use for cuts and what not? Looks like I will be giving this method a try ad I am tired of these brown threads all over the place. I wonder how this stuff comes along ? I have never had it and havent introduced anything new to my tank in quite some time. Is it something that just lies dormant in our tanks and when the time is right it just pops up? I understand that most of this is related to an excess of something but when everything is fine and I havent changed any routine it happens.

Thanks all

I am not sure what brings it on I too didn't add anything new when I got it. Maybe old RODI filters, mine were 3 or 4 years old....

Yes it is just regular Hydrogen Peroxide. The thread is huge but I got the jist of it by page 3 or 4. My Dino's were making my Z's and P's close up badly.

Yeah it seems to really annoy the zoas and palys I have but my mushrooms and lps it doesn't seem to bother as much. Looks like I will be stopping by the store on the way home from work today.
