Hello all!
Long time lurker and first time poster. I had a question on if anyone knows what happened to my Scopas Tang had been seen by some of the experts on this forum.
I had him for about a month. He was a happy healthy tang. But last night I noticed a wound which turned out to be an anal prolapse. Several hours later after being moved to a qt and meds he passed away. After he passed I decided to do a autopsy to figure out what happened. I thought constipation or internal parasites, worms. However, what I discovered in his intestines we're small pea sized balls of what looked like glass beads basically. They we're basically a thick membrane filled with fluid.
I went to my lfs today to discuss if they had any idea and they'd never heard of something like it before. I unfortunately forgot to photograph this before I got rid of the body so I don't have pictures. But just imagine squeezing his stomach and clear glass beads of liquid coming out. Any help is appreciated so this never happens again!
Tank 75g reef, 20 g sump, 10 g refugium.
Calc 400
Nitrites 0
Nitrates less than a couple
Amonia is almost 0
Phosphates were running high at .2 but I've added phosguard since to lower it.
The only other inhabitants are a dear friend zebra lionfish, a blue damsel, and an algae blenny. They're all perfectly happy.

. In fact I just had my galaxea and hollywood stunner frags take an 18 inch drop off a ledge thanks to my pushy lionfish and I think I'm going to take a loss on the stunner for not gluing it. But I can't think of anything in the tank that could resemble that unless he literally chewed silicone off the seems? The bevels in the sump are self installed with silicone but even if some of that came loose there is a sponge filter on the front of my return pump to try and keep anything from passing into it.
