Anyone ever kept a china wrasse aka New Guinea wrasse? Not much about them online but I found a very healthy specimen at petco $40. Never heard of it googled it on my phone from what I saw which wasn't much they're reef safe with caution. I already have a Valentini puffer and hoevens wrasse in my reef who are also with "caution". Which means my snails get picked off time to time? Anyone else have these? Hoping it doesn't eat coral... I took the plunge and got him so far so good

They don't touch coral. The hardest part about them is to get them eating and feeding them often enough to keep weight on them. Other than that, they are great reef tank additions. Very peaceful too.

That's how it seems. This one apparently eats frozen mysis. Seems to me it was a good buy so far such a pretty fish and my other wrasses and fish seem to like him

They wont bother motile inverts until closer to full adult size and may not bother them even then. This is a very cool fish and in my experience the easiest Anampses species to keep.

Which I was confused about because from the few places that I can find info it says care level "expert" or "difficult" which I can only assume must mean they are finicky. I'll see tomorrow at feeding time

I have had 2 of these wrasses. Make sure you have a cover on your tank. The first one i had found a small opening on my screen top and jumped to his death. I still have my 2nd and he is doing great. He minds his own business and picks the rocks all day/burrows in the sand at night. I can only get these guys to eat frozen mysis. Model reef tank citizen though. Good luck with him!

Good to hear! I do have a lid because I also have a red head fairy and a hoevens wrasse in that tank. I'm very excited to have gotten this fish- I've never seen or heard of it before and apparently neither has my LFS. Not bad for a petco buy lol. Can't be any less reef safe than my Valentini... Who is also a good citizen besides the fact that he sometimes harasses tiny snails and has a taste for monti cap

Also does anyone know if they change color when they get older?? Some of the pictures I've seen suggest they do

The pattern changes a little. The black lightens a little and takes up less space, but it develops red markings along the anal fin and on the head.
