Hello Everybody

This morning when I went to feed the fish I noticed the skimmer was not running. Then I noticed that all fish had died. I am assuming the skimmer pump shorted which caused all of the fish to die. I could have put my hand in the tank to test this, but decided against it.:ooh:

So with that being said, I guess I'm starting over. Does anyone know if there is a way to prevent a water pump from shorting out in the tank? The plugs were GFI on a 20 AMP dedicated circuit through a Reefkeeper lite

Thanks
Randy

I think so. It's my understanding that when something shorts in the tank the ground probe picks it up and trips the GFI.

Sorry to hear Randy, I had a similar issue with a powerhead once in a stock tank a couple years back.I did stick my hand in not knowing why my snail were all upside down.

For the ggfci to trip you have to have a path to ground. Without it a gfci is worthless.
