Well dont have to worry about female picking on the male anymore bubble tip ate the female. Sad day. Most expensive meal ever. Platinum clown.

Had female in a breeder container in the display so lfs recommended to put bubble tip in with her so she was comfortable so got a new one saturday and did so then didnt feed it for the normal wait a day or so to feed the anemone. Well guess it was hungry :-/

Now what to do with male pair with a new female or trade him for the male and buy female at store? Any info is needed. Or can i pair him with a diff type of clown?

Should i get rid of the anemone? Cant afford another loss. Could careless bout money its the pet i lose

You can pair "IT" with either a fair amount larger clown or a fair amount smaller clown. I don't know about color matching.

However, clowns are not male or female... they are A sexual... when you pair them the little one becomes the "male" and the larger one becomes the "female". So don't worry about trying to pick the right sex to pair up with the one you have left.

O yea it will change. But does it have to be another percula or could I do a snowflake?

Wow, never seen that. I believe clownfish sex is unidirectional (I have to think in engineering terms). What I mean by that is that it can only change in one direction, from male to female. But not back from female to male, so you need to either find one smaller or bigger...the longer you wait the more f a chance yours will start turning female so your best bet is get a smaller one of what ever you get next.

The color patterns don't have to match.

Yea no one i have talked to has. that anemone must have been real hungry cause that fish was healthy as an ox! has to be a percula thou right? Cause he the smallest of the two is a platinum. Or the lfs said i
Could trade him in for another pair but buy the female. But idk.

Just so I understand. You put your clown (( which wasn't being hosted by the anemone )) in a confined space with the anemone?
If this is correct, and your LFS recommended this, I would never take advise from them again.
This is the exact reason I am so against forcing a clown to be hosted, it is a great way to get your clown eaten.

Well she hosted one like a week ago it was ruff shape when bought it. Then it died so they told me to buy a new one and put with her so she wouldnt not host one again. So she thought it was the same anemone and dove in

I am not sure what you mean by clownfish are "asexual". I don't think that's quite the right phrasing. If they were asexual, you wouldn't need two to produce eggs and larvae, they would be able to reporoduce with a single specimen present. Clownfish definitely are male or female when full size. Juveniles can be of indeterminate sex, but have the potential to be either because they have both male and female sex organs. Males have the ability to become female if the social environment is correct. Once female, they can't revert back to a male. They are a type of sequential hermaphrodites, specifically protandrous hermaphrodites, meaning that they can go from male to female. This is not actually asexual....

Please don't do that again, or the result my very well be the same.
The prior one was one its way out, and most likely didn't have much of a sting, whereas the new one did and.......

Also, need to figure out why the prior anemone died before attempting a new one.

The old anemone idk wasnt happy at store but bought it to try to recover it but before it could 100% recover
They started to host it annoyed it and then he went to back of tank and then he starved. "Assume thats what happen" yea so thats what i think the sting had a part in it but the new anemone was put it sat so hosted ot from sat night to dismorning.;-/
