So I have a giant carpet anemone and it moved while I was at work and got caught in my filter I think it might have a tear in it. If it is torn how likely is it to die? I don't want it to die in my tank and crash my whole tank. Should I remove it and cut my losses. I've had this carpet anemone for over a year and it has grown a lot so I would like to save it if possible.

I don’t know much about carpet anemones, but I think it should recover fine. Anemones typically move around to find a more suitable home when the are not happy where they are for some reason. Make sure all your water perimeters are good, they are getting enough food and light as well as flow.

looking at your pics and having the exact same thing happen,i would say it should be just fine as long as it does not have a mojor tear in the foot DON'T try to remove that filter tube screen.the nem should work it's way out on its own.keep an eye on it and put a filter cover sponge on that screan.best of luck

Thanks for the replies it's now on it's third day of being stuck in the cover. The foot is fine it's moving itself around, the tear I can see is up near the filter cover. It's just wondering my tank now.

It was good and happy where it was it just stretched out and got caught in the filter. In the year I've had him it's only moved from where I put it one time and that's when I upgraded tanks and got new lights.

now would be the time to purchase some cipro and setup for an Rx tank, just in case things start to go down hill.
