My new anemone accidently committed suicide in my MP40. He had been in one location for several days and then started to move again. Got caught up in the water stream and then into the pump. Those foam filters Ecotech provides are flimsy. It's really an issue when you buy a Mercedes pump with a Hugo cover. I've heard of other animals doing the same thing. Any better solutions to the problem out there?

Not really. When they start walking I turn down my MP40's.

****... they are so pretty, I wish we could glue them to the rock.. lol

I think EcoTech would want to develop a solution. The cover is not sufficient and the slits for the incoming water are too wide allowing the soft anemones to be caught. If a good attorney wants the case.....:xd:

I always have had the foam covers on my mp40 on the side of the tank with the Rbta and have had 2 different rbtas get caught up more on the inflow.

Given the ecotech support I would never e a part of any class action against them they rock.

All pumps are big blenders essentially. Perhaps we could talk about suitability of Rbta s for the aquarium trade I do think that the captive splits do better than the wild ones.

On my anemone tank, I keep all pump intakes & overflows guarded with filter foam or coarse pond filter, depending on GPH of flow needed. It does create a maintenance issue, since the prefilters have to be cleaned regularly, but to keep an anemone long term I think it's a necessity. Anemones are attracted to waterflow so they are always going to be attracted to danger. They are like having a toddler in the house. If you don't lock the cabinets they will drink the drain cleaner in the shiny red bottle :-)

No offense but you should have guarded against this happening from the beginning as anyone who wants to keep Anemones know this is a possibility with any pump you have inside your tank. It does not matter how small the guard on a pump is if an anemone lands on it they are doomed unless caught right away and removed from it.
The truth about keeping any anemone in a closed system has been debated for many years as they rarely survive long term due to many hazards they encounter in the aquarium hobby. The best thing is to leave them in the ocean where they can live a normal lifespan, Which some live hundreds of years in the wild.
Any place that has flow is a potential hazard, even your overflow plumbing can be the end of one if they get attached and get sucked into the pipes and can cause a nasty little flood in your house.
Good luck with trying to sue as negligence is not grounds for a lawsuit and Ecotech is a great Co that stands behind their product.

Jim and Bill, he was joking. Did you not notice the laughing emoticon after the statement???

That sure is a funny looking laugh, You had your eyes checked lately? Speaking only for myself I'm just making some points i thought he may not have known.
Thats why i started with no offense, And i mean no offense either.

Thank you for your enlightening and constructive comments. Perhaps I should not be keeping an anemone and I will consider your guidance in the future. However, I would have thought that almost everyone would understand the $29 I spent on the LTA would not really justify suing anyone. Any thoughts of legal action was simply a joke.
