Hello everyone so my anemone has been in a my tank a while and even today looked great when I left to work at 2pm it’s now 8:30 pm and it looks like this, is it dying or pooping or splitting? Shriveled up and mouth flexed open
Everything in the tank looks very happy and parameters are same as usual being
Alk:8.8
Mag:1250
Calcium:430
Nitrate:25+ (all lps/softies in the tank i run it dirty I know)
Nitrite:0
Phosphate:.05-.1
Ammonia:0
Tank is a 15 gallon column nano

Mine just split but didn’t look like that. It was actually active... but all are different. When is the last time you fed it and what?Did you change your lighting? Anything else different or stressed in the tank? Anything near it? Like a lobo? Buy anything new? How does it look right now?

Are the lights going down and do you watch your tank at night? Does anything usually host it?

I would do a 10 to 20 % water change and quick. I hope you have RO. It’s a beautiful one. I’d hate to lose it. If it is splitting a water change can’t hurt it. However, if it is the water quality it can die.
I would also see if anything is annoying it..mine retract at night but never open that wide and deflate.

No change in anything and I just fed it it’s usual reef roid soaked mysis! And it keeps moving and flexingsbits mouth around so I’m not sure a picture would help much it looks different every minute!

Can you do the water change? It’s eating? It looked somewhat healthy but something is wrong.

This doesn’t look promising to me. Anemones I’ve gotten that looked well for a couple weeks can suddenly turn: causes can be a bad acclimation, light shock, unnoticed damaged foot, bacterial infection, over feeding, prolonged temp swing, etc. How long have you had this anemone? Nitrates are not ideal for a bubble-tip, but there can be exceptions. What’s your salinity and temp?

About 4 months I’ve had it and it’s actually fine now! Just pooped hahaha

Hey everyone! My anemone is fine now it just pooped! Thank you all so much for the help though I really appreciate that

Hey! It’s actually fine now it just pooped but I’ve had it for about 4 months and my salinity is always 35ppt/ 1.026

Glad it came around. Instead of feeding it mysis, try regular frozen shrimp from a grocery store. Thaw shrimp and only feed a size just a bit under it's mouth size. You can also try littleneck clams (again from local grocery store) Mysis are ok, but you'll see better coloration and growth with larger shrimp or clams. And only feed once a week or bi-weekly.

I try to keep my salinity at the 024 mark. Mine split like crazy. I have 6 or 7 rbta right now. I don’t spot feed either. I put a cube on the power head or defrost and feed tank in front of power head. I also never turn my pumps off while feeding but try to get the food into the water column rather than at the surface...but you do you. It’s what works for you.
