Ok so I just picked up a pair of clowns for $40. I didn’t even think of it but I don’t have an anemone for them. I’m getting a nice led light for Christmas next week but I want to get an anemone for them for now. I have a basic white led light that came with the tank and was hoping maybe a bubble tip would survive with the blue antic led lights

Here are some of the responses you are going to get:

  1. Wait until you get the new LEDs before adding the nem.
  2. Make sure your tank is established and your parameters are steady before adding the nem.
  3. There is no guarantee that the clowns will actually go to the nem. A lot of this depends on the type of clown and the type of nem and luck.
  4. Clowns can also take home in other things (corals, powerheads, etc.)
  5. If you have a powerhead, make sure you have some sort of power head guard since nems can move around (especially at first).
It might be helpful to provide some more details. Current tank setup, parameters, tank age, other inhabitants, current light, etc.

I do think bubble tips are typically a bit hardier and easier to keep than some other types. If your tank parameter are not stable, then you will probably have a hard time. I'm making the assumption that your tank is on the newer side since you are talking about adding lights. Hope this helps.
