I have a teal haddoni, it's made it's home in the"corner" and hasent bothered anything except a scooter that quite litterally dove head first into it . The clarkies are very territorial about their nem and keep the other fish at bay. I have an ornate goby pair that auctually live under the rock where it's foot is attached. From what I've read this is also a normal relationship that is formed.

Also, if you look at the ft shot, there is a dsb area around the carpet for a reason. They seem to like their foot protected by a nice cushy sand bed so there's a good 6" in that one area. It will gather sand to itself so make sure there's some extra near the spot it's settled. They also like a low/ moderate flow so the Jets in it's little cove are turned way down. It hasent moved in about 7mos. This way so I assume it's pretty content.

That's what I was thinking as well. Keep it and risk it or find a new home?
Well it’s already in the tank so may as well roll w it :/ if mouth gapes or turns inside out keep a eye on it. Post some updates w ina week if I don’t check in.

There are things you can do to decrease the chance that fish get eaten by a carpet. Night light and not startle the fish, and don't turn your light at night on to disturbed the fishes out of schedule, do not dump the fish in in the dark etc...
Mainly keep the fish comfortable, do not scare or startle them, do not cause them to swim about when they are half as sleep, and keep fish that does not chase by another fish and swim into an anemone. Really careful when you maintain your tank, consider cover the anemone with a basket when you have to disturb the tank.
All of these steps will go a long way to keep fish from get eaten by an anemone.

Also, A. polumnus are very rough on their host. I don't keep them anymore because they will often kill their host anemone. My only Polymnus pair dig into the mouth of a large healthy Haddoni and eat the inner organ of the anemone result in the death of the anemone. I don't underfeed my tank either. After the death of one host, they were doing the same to another Haddoni and thus must go back to the LFS.

Well it didn't take the clowns long to find it, woke up this morning to both of them nestled up in it! But after watching them like OrionN said they are pretty rough with it. As the lights have come on now they seem to be leaving it alone for the most part but it was pretty retracted and not looking happy. It's looking better now that the clowns are leaving it be.

I've also noticed it's foot is attached to the rock rather then in the sand, im not sure if that means anything or not.

They tend to like their foot attached to the rock but burried down in the sand bed. They usually attach then work themselves down nice and deep. With mine the foot is auctually attached to almost the bottom side of the rock it's sitting near all the way under 6" of sand. If I really disturb it (like dropping my magfloat on it... Oopse) it will retract all the way under the sand to protect itself. I've had this happen once randomly, something must have spooked it at night. I woke up to find the giant carpet missing, hubby auctually asked what I did with it lol. It reappeared later that day. Cool magic trick ;)

I've have 2 saddleback clowns in my 60g cube and would like to add an anemone for them. They are pretty large so would need to be some what bigger to fit them. Was thinking possibly a long tentacle as I would prefer it to stay in the sand if possible. Let me know what you guys think and if you know of any reputable online venders that have a good selection.
Hii can you post a pic of your saddleback? I love them!!!

Young Haddoni often mount on the rocks and then move down to the sand when they get larger. I would stick with it and not worry too much about the saddlebacks unless you see consistent trouble where the anemone is overly irritated. Of all the different clown complexes, the saddles behaviour is very unique and enjoyable to watch.

Well the carpet went back to the lfs today we love our fish to much to stress about it. But we did come home with a replacement, hopefully the clowns will find it!

Your Haddoni probably wouldn't have bothered your clowns, but all others would have been "fair game". I have my Haddoni in a 120 w/ 9 BTAs and so far have only lost a niger trigger to the Haddoni. I have a Foxface that tempts death weekly stealing food from the carpet but others keep their distance.

On another note of Haddonis, I've have mine about a year. When I first got it, it was 6" across. When I moved to new home last spring and had to move it, it was attached to a rock (which made moving it easy) When I pulled rock it's foot must have been 10" across, it was massive! When I put it in newly moved tank I swear it was 15" to 18" across. It settled in and currently the exposed body is about 8". (There's alot of meat in the sand/underneath)

Good luck w/new nem!

If that is a BTA make sure it is mounted to some rock. They are not sand dwellers. If there is no rock under for its foot now then the changes of it floating into your powerhead tonight is extremely high.
