So my anemone that I’ve had for months unexpectedly moved this afternoon. I did rearrange some rocks (not the one he was attached) to clean some gha which might have made him want to move. I found him shrunk up on the mp40 sponge filter. I have turned off my mp40.

Should I leave him be or isolate him in an isolation box incase he deteriorates and nukes the tank? He seems to still be intact, but I honestly can’t tell the full damage since he’s not expanding.

I know people have had their anemone chopped up in a power head, but how about deflated and possibly intact on the sponge?

It looks like it wasn't actually sucked in so I'd say it's ticked off but not hurt. Just move it back to the area you want it in

Whew. Good thing you had the foam on there! I had a similar incident and ended up putting anemone guards on my MP40s.

As far as your nem, I’d turn down the flow on the powerhead so the nem can move off of the powerhead. Otherwise I’d leave it and let it recover as it wants.

As mentioned, good thing for the foam.
Me, I'd move it back to a spot I like and rest some eggcrate against it overnight to ensure it attaches to the rock. Keep the sponge for weeks until you know it won't wander again.

Thanks everyone. Yea he looks to be alright. Now that the mp40 if off, he’s has moved. I let him find a new place to attach and decide what to do from there.

I'd move him before he finds a firm hold on the glass. Gently irritate/pry the foot with your finger tip and you'll be able to move him.

I moved him off the glass as suggested. Still looks beat up compared to his normal state, but hoping for a good recovery.

thank god you had the foam on the powerhead. my condy at one point started to stretch under my Maxspect. i got worried that it would let go and get sucked in, so I ordered some mesh plastic canvas from amazon instead of paying $50 for 3d printed stuff. speedy recovery to your nem

Man seeing that clown there with the nem glad it was okay! I had a similar incident in my reefwave, and fortunately made a good recovery too !

Yea he is looking great this morning.

I know this is an old post but I just had to comment. I've had a large a anemone (when outstretched sometimes measured 12 inches). He started moving around after almost a year of sitting in the same place. I saw him start moving and put foam guards on my mp40s. All was good for a couple of weeks. This morning I looked in the tank and saw my clowns that normally never leave their nem looking confused. I looked all over for the nem and saw a pinkish lump on the OUTPUT side of my mp40. The nem was flat in the middle of the out put of the running mp40. His foot was facing out and his "head" was against the front cross bars of the mp40. Somehow there is as a suction front the front where the water usually exits at high speed. I'm confused about what was happening. I turned off the mp40 and expected him to fall off but he was kind of wrapped around the front cross members like he was push on there hard! I pulled him off and realized there were pieces being left behind. I don't think he was cut up by the blades but he is really messed up from being pushed (pulled) into the pump face.

I put him in an acclimation box and today at the end of the day he was attached to the box by the foot and his stalk is extended but no extension of anything at all.
Any ideas of how to help him if it is possible are appreciated

I also wanted everyone to know that an anemone can be "sucked in" to mp40 with foam guards.

Sorry to hear about your anemone. After it happened to mine, i just put some egg crate in the tank to keep him from wandering until he got settled and attached himself to a rock. I didn't bother or touch my anemone once I got mine off the MP40, and mine made a complete recovery. But mine was completely intact when it was on the MP40. Here is a current picture of mine six months later:
