Anemone guard/pump sleeve

Does anyone know how much it restrict the flow/or how much harder the pump has to work to push the flow? (i know this may be dependent on the material and how porous it is).


also where can i get some of these guards/sleeves? preferably something i can buy so i can customize.

This is what I used. My anemone is now in the qt tank as it is not doing so well but these worked when I needed them. I just remove and toss in wash as they do get ugly with algae--forming a impromptu algae scrubber! Cheap and will prob. last a lifetime. I just cut, slip on and put excess between powerhead base and glass and the magnet that holds the powerhead also keeps the material from blowing off.

For years I've been using panty hose but really got sick of cleaning all the time so I made these....well see how they hold up and if they're nem proof....

It largely depends on the material you use in regards to how much flow is impacted. That being said, the two examples above probably aren't too impactful to the pump's performance. I would focus on using something made of plastic such as screen mesh or that plastic mesh stuff folks use for backing in handmade embroidery projects (looks like the material @reef lover used). If you use pantyhose just know that you are going to have to clean it pretty often as it will act like a filter and accumulate detritus and such.
