i have had it about a week and it has been open and looking good. Today I looked at it after about 5 hours of not seeing it when the lights came on and he is curled up and not looking good. Still responsive to touch, but only to curl further. Do I need to remove him before he dies? Is there some sort of poison they release or will my tank be ok?
Parameters were all good 2 days ago.

He looks okay....not overly happy, but okay. At least he's not hiding under a rock completely deflated. Give him a chance. He may just be adjusting to his new home.

He looks kind of pale, but if he's expelled some zooxanthellae to make room for species that are more conducive to your tank, then it may be a little while before he colors back up. Can you cut the photoperiod or lighting intensity to stress him less? Try feeding him, also.

He looks super stressed. I've never personally owned them but I've taken care of some at the lfs. Definitely bleached. Keep a close eye on him. I wouldn't feed, he probably won't take it and it may stress him further.

I have been trying to feed him a piece of shrimp. I saw a few on here say a pencil eraser size so I tried that and I think the cleaner shrimp has been wearing him out. He looks a lot better now, but I hadn't seen him curl up like he was this time. When I saw him about 3 pm he looked fine. Then at about 7 he was totally curled in. Now he looks like he did at the store and when I had him at home.
Oh well thanks for the advice either way. I think I will stick to just frozen and he gets what he gets for a while.

So if he does not make it in the end does he release any toxins or will it be fine until I get home to pull him?

You should pull him when it becomes obvious he won't make it, if you can. I've had them disappear in my tank before with no noticeable effects, but others may gave had a different experiences.

This morning he was out and looking great. Not sure what the issue was, but I also just realized the pictures probably make him look a lot more deflated that normal because the rock he is on has a pretty good sized dip in it where his foot can attach and the rest of his body looks flush with the rest of the rock.
Thanks again
