Hi all I’m new here so please bare with me.
Iv had my tank setup for about a year and everything has been going well until recently.
I decided to add a anemone into the tank for the clown fish about a week ago, it’s never really settled and has always moved around. When I arrived home from work today I did my usual visual search around for it and found this! I fear it may be dying but after some advice please.

Mine does that some times. Then it'll open back up in an hour or two and be just fine. Don't panic yet. If it doesn't open back up in the next 48 hours, then I'd start to worry.

In the meantime, give us some details of your tank, lighting and water parameters and we'll see if anything is obviously amiss.

Good call by the pros on this forum, reach in and scoop it up, if it is mushy or smells like death, well, you know...

If it is still sticky and doesn't smell leave it in a bit, nems really are weirdos.

Doesn’t look good, but like they said, pull it out and smell it. If it has a foul odor, don’t put it back in.

Thank you for the replies I shall check it today when I get home. It has always been soft like a slug since the day I got it, could this mean it was on its way out before I even bought it? It is still alive at the minute I’m sure of that as it had moved and changed shape and colour again over night

No. We mean really mushy. Like it’s falling apart. You’ll know.
