Greetings,

I picked up a Long Tentacle Anemone from my LFS today as it was pretty large and healthy looking in the store. It has been in my tank for about 6-8 hours now and hasn't really settled much. I buried him a bit in the sand to keep from floating around.
My question is, is this normal behavior? How do I know if my anemone is happy and healthy? I really want to keep this guy alive and really appreciate any input as to how. Thank you all for the help!! (:

Probably it didn't like being buried very much. It looks annoyed by something, if it's stayed scrunched up like that.

Your tank looks pretty new. When did you start it, how did you cycle it, and what are your parameters? What lights do you have?

Do you have any rockwork in there? I just see sand.

The tank has been cycling for about a month (Quickstart, Stability, snail, food) adding clowns tomorrow but wanted to get the anemone comfortable & acclimated first. I know this is a bit early but parameters have been stable.
Parameters:
pH: 8.0
Temp: 78
Nitrates: 30
Nitrites: 0
KH: 10
Calcium: 440
Salinity: 1.027
Yes rockwork, large rock in right corner.
Lighting is NICREW Marine LED.
Should I reposition him or just let him be? He has now rolled to his side. Turned off my circulation pump for acclimation.
Thank you so much for the quick reply - will do whatever to keep him alive

This is extremely early. The problem in new tanks isn't just the parameters we test for, it's the fluctuating levels of dissolved organics, and the general potential for sudden shifts. I would HIGHLY recommend returning this anemone, as it is very likely to die in such a new tank. Especially if you didn't start with live rock.

Don't disturb it, they don't like that. Unless you're putting it into a container so you can return it later without having to pry it up.

Easiest method for LTA attachment is placing an open ended PVC section on the bottom of the tank, clearing all sand from the middle so it's bare glass, place nem inside, once it attaches, gently lift PVC up surrounding the nem with sand. Your tank looks super new and your sand bed doesn't look quite deep enough. LTA's need 2" minimum, piling up substrate to reach the required height isn't a very good long term solution.

Looks like damaged foot(them little white things on foot that ain't gravel), bet it never attaches and dies. When buying LTA if it's foot ain't attached at store don't buy it. There are so many threads on this forum saying my LTA won't attach, it's just floating around the tank that's because of foot damage in collection. No damaged foot and you get this:
