I've had this 55 gallon tank setup going for 2 years and have a problem I'm not quite sure about in the last few weeks . It had 2 clowns, 4 green chromis, 1 rbta, and 1 peppermint shrimp. The chromis were the last additions about 2 months ago. Everything seemed ok until the rtba split. The anemone split one night 3 weeks ago. Before the split, the rtba was easy to find in the top of the tank. The halves moved around the tank a few times and then went into hiding. I would occasionally see them deep in the rock work. Then the chromis started disappearing. Every two or three days, I'd see one less chromis in the tank in the morning. I can't find any jumpers on the floor or bodies in the sand bed. I even tilted and turned the rock work looking for bodies. The clowns are doing perfectly fine. I have two possible theories of what could be going on. 1. Is it possible that the bubble tips are eating/killing the chromis when they swim through the rock work? 2. The clowns are killing chromis when they get close to rock work to protect the anemones and the peppermint shrimp does the cleanup. Do either of these seem plausible? I'm just trying figure out whats going on. I may be missing something totally obvious. Any feedback is appreciated.
