I know this is probably detailed somewhere in this forum so please forgive in advance, but are there certain things one should do to progress the hosting between clowns and BTA? Certain placement in the tank, etc.? I have noticed both my clowns eye balling it lately but the BTA just seems too small for any action at the moment. The BTA also likes its placement shoved in-between the rock and overflow wall...pretty neat that it could happen though!

I wished. Sometimes it happens immediately and sometimes it never happens. Took mine over a year to do it.

It all depends on what kind of clowns you have, if you have a occelaris or a percula clown , the nem only needs to be a couple inches biger than the clown, but if you have a maroon, clarki, or another large species of clown, the nem should be at least twice the size of the clown.

I wouldn't recommend waiting, as many said, it can never happened. You can search for techniques on how to push them into the anemone.
Putting them together in a confined space, always worked for me.

I had a case where a Ocellaris pair used to live 3cm from a large BTA, for 3years and not host it. I did put them in a small box and they bonded in a few hours.
In another case, the clowns went straight to the anemone.

Coolness! I might try the confined space thing. They are still circling...

Sounds great! thank you!

Clown fish have natural nem host's . For a BTA they are

Amphiprion akindynos - Barrier Reef Clownfish
A. clarkii - Clark's Clownfish
A. frenatus - Tomato Clownfish
A. melanopus - Red and Black Clownfish
A. ocellaris - Ocellaris Clownfish
A. percula - Percula Clownfish
Premnas Biaculeatus - Maroon Clownfish

For your best luck match with one of these. I have 3 RBTAs and 1 Long Tentacle. The Clarkii is bonded with the LTA and Maroon jumps back and forth among the RBTAs
