Anemone ID? on gulf live rock

Got a anemone that came on a piece of live rock, pretty big in size anybody know that it could be and if it is a pest?

It is probably an aiptasia, but could be this too:

DO you know if the live rock is from the gulf?

It kinda looks like a Light Bulb Nem.

it’s pretty big to be an aiptasia, not unless they get big in the wild…

Aptasia can get pretty big. When I worked at a LFS, I had a guy that would come in once a week and he always told me about his tank full of anemones. It wasn't until he showed me a picture that I figured out he had a tank full of aptasia. He fed them. He had a handful that were 3" across.

I didn't have the heart to tell him. He was so proud of his anemones.

If the rock was from the gulf... the aiptasia we think of is not native to that area. That why I asked the location of the rock. The ocean is a big place and it stands to reason not every little brown nem is aiptasia...

Every time someone posts rock form the gulf people say it is aiptasia and I want to smack em!

+1 to light bulb anemone, I've got some too and they look just like with the banding. I've got one that's almost 3" across now, not sure how big the max is. Not particularly slow growers, but they don't spread as fast as aiptasia or the normal pests. They also don't seem to have especially strong stings.

Not sure if I'll keep mine, though, the size means they can still make little coral keep out zones.

Any particular care requirements? I have 3 varying in size from some gulf live rock.

Mine have just done their thing - they seem to be photosynthetic, but can tolerate low light (my biggest one lives in a back corner), the oral disk can get at least an inch around, with tentacles another couple inches, so they can get decent sized. Had a few move around, but it seems they like to move to somewhere on the rocks with a hole to hide in and then just stay there, mostly. Will eat meaty foods if you feed it, seems to get some out of the water just fine, and hasn't eaten any of my fish or inverts.
