Can anyone ID this anemone? It came on my live rock from tampa bay saltwater, so I'm assuming it's a species that lives in Florida waters.

Pictures are a little blurry but possibly a curly cue. I think they are related to aptasia but they won't spread and take over.

Thanks for the replies. After looking at some other online photos of aptasia and curly cues, it does look more like a curly cue. Most photos of aptasia's have thin long stalk/trunks, this one has a pretty thick and short stalk and also the testicles look striped with rings. I guess you can't really see it too well in the photos.

It's pretty cool looking IMO, any ideas how old this thing is and how big it'll get and time frame for growth?

I have a couple curly cue on some live rock that I ordered and they seem to grow pretty slow unless you feed them. I think that is about as big as they get.

The dreaded pest aiptasia do not live where tbs seeds their rock. It may or may not be a curly cue. Either way, I would wait and see. Cool critter

I don't think it is a curly cue, some other anenome species but I don't believe it's a curly cue.

It's definitely cool and pretty sticky, I feed it a piece of krill probably way too big for it and it pulled it right in, my flower anemone took a few tries to get it to stick a piece of the krill. My cleaner shrimp were all over it while it had the krill in its mouth, I'm guessing if it wasn't busy with the krill it probably would have taken them in even tho they are way too big for it. On that note, can anemone's bite their food or do they have to swallow it hole? Just wondering if it will end up giving up on the krill without eating any or if it'll take what it can.

It has a really bright glowing red mouth, you can see it in the one picture but it's really much brighter than that, almost like it had an LED in it. Lol. Would be great to know exactly what it is.

Swallow whole, feed @ 1/3 of anemone size. Otherwise it will just spit it out.

Again, thanks for the replies!

It ate the whole piece, it was probably close to 1/3 of it's size so I guess that's OK. The stalk was blown up all day after eating it yesterday but it's back to normal now. I appreciate the info on feeding 1/3 of anemone size, that will save me a lot of guessing, but how often should I feed that amount? Until yesterday I hadn't bothered directly feeding the *curly cue* at all and had been dropping fish pellets to the flower anemone on a daily or bi-daily basis. I'd imagine krill is better, I have freeze dried krill and mysis but the krill are easier to feed since they are bigger. They seemed to love it, but they also seemed to love pellets and flakes. My flower anemone was much brighter, mostly white with some tan when I first got it now it's mostly brownish/tan with some white and its not quite as attractive, not sure if it's just blending with the environment or poor nutrition.
