Typically with BTAs if you don't know the lineage then we'll never be able to give you a positive 100% ID, in terms of the "named" BTAs. If you did know the lineage, you probably wouldn't be asking what it is. This is why threads like this typically have a lot of wise crack and smart-butt responses. It's very rare for gems to slip through the cracks. And if it's a wild nem, then those are never "named".

Otherwise we go with color and pattern, and you're typically limited to a rainbow, black widow, and standard green or rose BTA. If the nem has yellow tips, the we may say it's a sunburst, but we'll never be able to tell you that it's 100% a Colorado Sunburst, for example.

^^ Agree mostly w/ the exception of smart alek response, had your question asked what type of BTA is this I'd at least have known you knew it was a BTA, not knowing Op I simply stated short quick answer.
People ask what species all the time, and usually if someone gets a foo foo named BTA they usually know what they got.

I agree. This thread is tame compared to others I've seen. ;Inpain I didn't mean to imply that this thread was in the gutter already.

We had no idea from the initial post that the OP already knew it was a BTA.

Also, RBTA could mean Red Bubble Tip Anemone, or Rose BTA, or Rainbow BTA. Back in the day most people referred to Rose as RBTA. Nowadays it seems like RBTA also refers to a Rainbow BTA, so now we have to specify that too!

I could’ve been more specific in the sense that I knew it was a bubble tip. I was merely looking for the common name derived from the colors (looks to be rainbow)

However, one can argue that posting a picture of a maroon clownfish asking for ID and is met with the response “Clownfish” does not quite do the trick. (BTA in this case)

Anyways, thanks.

Daniel

One can argue many things, I did not come on here to argue.
I'm not sure how many times in the last 2 weeks I've ID'd BTA for someone that did not know, figured you were another.

What’s gonna happen to those candy cane corals when the nem expands?
