Hi,

Can someone ID this anemone please?

It's probably around 3cm only. Sorry about the photos she's in a weird angle. Thanks.

I think it is one of the temperate/cool water non clownfish hosting anemone. I see a lot of them on the pacific northwest coast and in the Puget Sound. Possible Anthopleura elegantissima. I don't think we can ID these to the species level easy.
Where did you get this one?

Intertidal zone in Queensland Australia.

It is not a temperate anemone, but one of the non hosting anemones. I guess I would recommend that you do a search on Queensland anemones and find out.

Thanks, i will check it out. I knew it would be non hosting anemone. I do have a bta on my tank hosting pair of clownfish.

I will try to ID, it's pretty tricky to get the right ones specially when it's on intertidal zone as there are quite a few different species.

Thanks for the help anyway.

That is for sure. There are thousands of species of anemones and only a handful are clownfish hosting.

Could only find either these 2 on https://australian.museum/learn/animals/

1.Oulactis Muscosa (oulactis anemone)

2.Cnidopus verater (Green Anemone)

I do think it's possibly oulactis anemone, as it seems to be in the region and found commonly in rock pools and intertidal zone. And looks different to the Cnidopus Verater which seems to usually be in clusters and big groups when I see it at the beach.

Not 100% though, but it seems that there are several different types of this Oulactis Muscosa.

Pretty cool, i like it, seems to be photosynthetic as well.

Other than that i also see commonly found non photo synthetic red anemones "actinia tenebrosa". Which I'm sure it's not it.

I wonder how they split or reproduce. Keen to see it grow.

Cheers,
