Wasn’t sure what group to post this in. But I put a nem in my tank a few days ago. He was attached to a rock when I got him. He stayed in place for a few days then this morning I woke up and he had moved to a little cave between two of my rocks. Then maybe a hour later I noticed he moved deeper in to where I can’t see him anymore. Should I be worried or will he be able to get himself back out since he got himself in there?

What type of anemone?
I’m honestly not sure. It was someone on marketplace breaking there tank down and had 3 nems. It’s similar to the one on the left in the picture. Just a little bigger.

From your posts I can see your tank is brand new. The anemone will not survive in a tank that young. Sorry to be cold, it just won't.

The tank was running for 5 years. I purchased it. We kept all the water and bacteria on rocks/sand and in sump. Moved it to my house and filled it back up was running same day taken down.

Maybe a long tentacle? They prefer to reach out of crevices. If so, the cave is perfect.

Oh man I love those stories. Right up my alley. I really want to start my own thread on one day tank moves but....
Anyways I've done this before and he's probably just a little ticked for now so just give him a little bit of time to adjust.
How's everyone else?

Got ya. Then I wouldn't mess with it. They move where they feel like. Messing with it will just cause stress.

When it’s opened up it look just like your average nem. Doesn't have long tentacles. The cave comes out on the other side of the rock piles. I guess I’ll see if he’s moved by morning. I just didn’t know if I should go looking for him or not.

No. It will move where it wants to be.

That’s what I was wondering. I appreciate it. The tank isn’t new. I just am lol. Normally I wouldn’t have put the nems in with me being new. But they were pretty much free so I’m giving it my best shot.

Keep your parameters as stable as you can. That will be the big test. You have an up hill battle with a smaller tank.

The day I out my bubble tip in I placed him on a rock shelf thought he'd like...slithered down into the cave, stayed there a day, came out the back, climbed up the back and attached to same shelf just in back. They are silly like that.

That sounds exactly like this nem.

Have you tested all of your parameters recently? There can be die off or spikes from transfer.

Jeez I was wrong across the board lol. Thought you had a new 13.5.... I should have done my homework a little better.
Yes I have a 13.5 lol. But I just bought this tank a week ago (the 150 tall) but it was running for 5 years prior and had a nem that came with it that is doing great.

I am in thd process of doing all that. It’s a little over whelming with me being newer. My alk and calcium are a little high. My mag is showing very high but we kind of think it’s a test fail. I’m testing the rest tomorrow. The other 3 nems in the tank look great and the other corals are opened up just fine.
