Any suggestions on how to keep an anemone from getting sucked into your filter intake?? Mine is a Penguin Biowheel 350 and it has two intake areas. I just got a new rose nem and he has already gotten stuck once. I tried stuffing the intake with phosphate absorbing sponges because it was the only thing I had, but it seemed to really slow down the flow of water. By the end of the day, everything else in the tank was looking ticked about the lack of water flow.

use an overflow with surface skimming... it would be much more helpful, and anemones usually dont float around on the surface.... biowheels are not a great option to use
I would also recommend more flow than just a HOB filter

Julie you can put filter floss around all your filter intakes. This usually will keep them from getting stuck or sucked in. You can buy it just about anywhere and it is cheap.

There are sponges that are made to fit around the intake. Sponges should also be around the intakes of any power heads you use.
