So my anemone detached a few days ago and I set him back down in the sand. He hasn’t moved since but Im afraid he is dying. I noticed brown stuff coming out of his mouth. Is it his guts as a sign that I should take him out before he nukes me tank? Im trying to make the decision but I’m still not sure.

That nem might not be happy but it isn't exactly on deaths doorstep. Leave it be for now. What kind of lighting do you have? Tank age? Parameters?

For now keep it in low flow and make sure your water is clean

Tank is a year old, I have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrates, salinity is 1.023, I have two box LEDs. I havent done a water change in about 2 weeks so thats the first thing i’ll do.

Are these the big rectangle black box leds? They are very powerful and can "sunburn" your nem. How do you have them set?

I was to the understanding the black boxes are lower wattage and not quite enough compared to let’s say radions .
I've owned and worked on 4 different brands of black boxes over the years. They use 3w leds just like the big name fixtures and are capable of putting out way too much light for corals and nems in a standard 24" deep tank.

Wow ...
good to know .
I have 3 of them but have little to no knowledge about them .
Having always ran t5’s
I was debating saving them for a future frag tank build or selling them just to clear space in my closet

They'll grow corals just as good as any led fixture. People just don't like them because they don't have the big name brand or all of the bells and whistles.

This is the style I'm referring to (ignore my prices, these are screenshots from an old ad I posted)

I would suggest bring up the salinity up to 1.025 slowly and also try feeding a small piece of shrimp with tweezers until the anemone attaches to the piece of shrimp. I have found that under nourished anemone have all kinds of issues. Simply getting the regular nourishment keep anemone's healthy.

I’ve got them on 40% white 60% blue so they aren’t as powerful as they can be. I mainly did this to combat some algae and it has died down. I was going to slowly ramp them up again but that doesn’t seem like the best course of action at the moment.

This sounds like a good idea, I’ll start doing both.
