Hey all,

So today I am returning my melanarus wrasse because I saw it nabbing at my anemone, also it eats my hermit crabs and it killed my cleaner shrimp.

I have a question about my long tentacle anemone that I bought last week, I've attached a picture of it. It appears to still be alive, but not doing very well, and I think it's because the wrasse has been attacking it. My question is should I return the anemone as well? Or does he have a chance?

Thanks,
Will

Its thought but I have seen some bounce back from brink of death. I'd try to make sure the foot isn't all chewed up and maybe put a container in there with a few smaller rocks and put him in in with tentacles up and see if he latches. This is a guess I have seen ppl do it if anyone has more solid advice please!!!

Your substrate looks awfully rough for an LTA. Is that just shells on top or rocks rubble too? LTAs need a relatively deep sand bed, 3+ inches to dig into and anchor their foot on the bottom of the tank. Get a small pvc pipe, open on both sides, dig a hole down to the glass, place the pvc in the hole so you have bare glass showing and place the nem inside. Once it attaches to the glass, remove the pvc and let the sand surround the foot.

I agree with Cell.
The nem still has color, it’s got a chance in my opinion.
They like deep sandbed, finer sand is better, dig hole near base of rock, pvc or plastic cup (cut bottom out) buried in hole, and put anemone in pvc foot down. If it starts to float out consider turning off or adjusting flow until it attaches. After a few days pull out pvc.
You got this.
