I’ve had this bubble tip for a while, and for the past few months, it’s looked like this. Any ideas what is going on? I’d like it to fill back out

Is it still eating on a regular basis?

I just started spot feeding reef roids about a week ago. Until then I was just feeding the tank and expecting it was eating that way, but figured I’d try changing it up when it didn’t get any better

May be reaching for light. Do you have any clowns with it?

Interesting. I have 2x radion XR15’s at 60% total brightness. It’s fairly high up in the tank too. Do you think I should increase the brightness? I’m running the coral lab profile for lps

Also, I forgot to say that yes, I have 2 clowns that host it. Although, they keep their distance more now that it’s small like that. They still hang out in it, just way less

I’ve had two of those in the last 10 years and I fed them scallops and silversides at least once per week. If I had to speculate, I’d say it’s starved. Anemones don’t filter feed and I can Imagine it would be hard to grab roids out of the water column.

I have many bubble tips and they do grow nicely with food given to them. I usually just have jumbo mysis, krill, or squid available. I do not feen them often, but at least once every month. The ones with clowns not as often as the ones without. They really look stretched for light. Both the nem and the leather there. Feed and get more light on it. Some whites, not only blues. That is what I would do.

Thanks guys, I’ll do just that. I’ll grab some food and boost up the light a bit. I just happened to snap that pic when the tank was winding down, it’s got a good period of white light.
Basically any old frozen meaty food?

Yep on the food. That size will like krill and jumbo mysis and squid. You can also cut up chunks of white fish, shrimp, oyster, clam. etc if you get from local store.
