Hey R2R

I cut a black widow anemone about a week ago
The halves have not healed yet, and I see the mouth still open n not closed

should I be worried ?
I did get cipro? Should I start medication ?

did you dip in iodine after the cut? I have not heard of them not closing up right after cutting. Unless they didn't make it. Full disclosure I don't cut much and prefer natural splits.

I did not dip in iodine .
too late to do so now ?
what does iodine do specifically is it to help heal faster or to disinfect it ?

I usually depend on it to disinfect the cut and make sure there is nothing to prevent it from healing. How clean was the blade when cutting? if new did you wipe off the oil that they are usually stored in?

Yes it was a brand new blade never used .
Got ones that did not have oil on it... or at least none I can see or feel .
What do u think I should do with this one ? It’s sticking on a rock and bubbling up (didn’t bubble before the cut) so I feel like it’s doing better but concerned about the mouth .

If the anemones do not deflate, I would not recommend treating them. He may take a few more days to heal.
Sounds good! Thanks! Yeah it is bubbling up , the tentacles r saying healthy but the mouth is saying unhealthy

Update on this thread, the black widow anemone died but it was because I was mixinganemones. I had a rainbow, a black widow and a Sherpa all in the same tank.

I'm sure cutting it didn't help. Natural splits are the way to go.

I have a CSB that is in its own tank, split last week, but still hasn’t healed. Worried about it but just making sure the water chemistry is good. Afraid ill have to run cipro if I don’t see any improvement
