So my bta has been perched as high on the rocks as he could be since he was introduced a month ago. 3 days ago I upgraded my lighting to the sbreef elite from the orbite marine ramping leds. I was hoping he would move with the much more intense lighting ( iwant to move my wavemaker to the spot he used to be) and now that he is on the move i am terrified lol. I want to turn my rw4 off so that there is no chance of him being chopped to shreds, but if I turn it off until he settles, there is the possibility he will move again after it's turned back on because he doesn't like the flow. He is moving towards the side that the rw4 is on, and i want to move it to the back wall near where he used to be. Should i turn it off, move the pump to where i want it, or do nothing until he is settled? What would you do?

if he's on the move you need to watch it pretty good. do you have foam to put around the wavemaker?? thats the safest option then it can find its happy place. please advise.
it may be moving due to the new light being more intense than the old one. you could try the screen trick to acclimate it to the lights

cross your fingers is what you need to do-lol :( seriously tho, if one of my nems decided to start a move i would try to figure the direction he moving and remove all high dollar corals from its potential path and put them on the sand bed away from the rocks for temporary until he settles

i would also wait to move any of your pumps around until it settles just in case it moves toward a pump that it didnt think was there 2 days ago type thing. in the end it may move again if you decide to move your pump later, but then again maybe it wont??

Luckily I have kept most of my corals well away from him because I had a feeling he would move once the new lights were on. I just hope he doesn't pick a terrible spot, like behind the rocks. Although my clowns would probably love that because that's where they are all day lol.

When my nem is on the move, it sometimes just goes floating in the current. So I'm scared it will make its way to the overflow. Stopping or slowing down flow to the sump causing the tank to overflow.

That's what I am most afraid of. That it'll go surfing and float right into the pump or overflow.

I have some filter floss I could wrap around and gumband on, do you think that would work?

I wrapped my powerhead with gutter guard and my haddoni still get caught in it. Here some pics. Nem did survive.

Oh my! Glad he survived, but that looks terrifying! The gutter guard does look much neater then the filter floss lol. It seems my nem has stopped for the time being, or maybe just taking a rest haha.
