Hi, I’m thinking of getting anemones like a bubble tip or something like that, I have a isolated rock island that I can put them, is it a good idea or asking for problems thanks, there is one power head sort of nearby I’ll include a picture as soon as I can
Thanks

how old is the tank? how big is it? how many wavepumps/powerheads do you have? lighting?

Depends on your tank age... the anenome will move to wherever it likes so no real point in a island.
If you're looking for hosting bubble tip is your best bet.
But if your tank is under 9 months don't get a anenome.

You can do what you wish but I got the hair for an anemone. Ever since then I haven’t had issues keeping them or getting them to stay put but they have stung some of my corals as they have grown and split and just become a pain and taking up vital real estate I could be using for nicer sps!

A mature tank, strong lighting, variable flow and stable parameters are all that's needed

Just curious, why is tank lifespan a factor for a bta? Is it establishment of nutrients ? Thanks

The things that be tested for, along with the errors of a new reefer. Anemone along with some of the more difficult corals just do better in a mature environment.

Are you more comfortable on grandma's couch, or in a sterile operating room?

My tank is 1 year and a half
2 wavemakes and a return
I use radions for light
Current lighting and parameters?

Keep in mind they split, some way more than others.
Also they may not like the rock and move.
Stability of flow and water movement will help keep them from wandering.
I have a purple tip Nem and a pair of breeding clowns in my 30g remote.
If you want clowns this is a better Nem option, imo.

Your tank is mature so there should be no problem BTA . Just let them settle in leave them alone they will find there own happy place . No need to feed at the beginning. I only feed my BTA once a week with mysis. They may even hide in the rock when first put in this is normal as well . BTA imo are quite hardy unless in none mature tanks . My nems do well in moderate flow. Lighting medium to high sometimes you have to start off medium light and slowly ramp up higher over time . This is mine just took this photo

Can I remove the part of the anemone that splits or will that rock the anemone

I have clowns but don’t really care if they go in the anemone or not

Is there any problem with anemones eating clean up crew or fish and I would like a eel so I’ll add that too just in case

I use radions no clue the par, Olathe parameters last time I checked phosphates are high but everything else is good
You should be well ok to introduce, but acclimate well and introduce under lower intensity and even shut pumps off (optional) to allow it to establish its foot in a happy spot.
Assure not too much light or flow up front which can stress and dont worry about feeding it for at least 3-4 days.

When they slit its a new Nem so you need to find it a home. Most lfs will take it.

Ok thanks, if I do add it i won’t add for at least a month or two
