Anemone Placement

Wow beautiful. I would've guess LT nem. But I'm no expert by a long shot. Great looking nem man. Very healthy. That clown should be hosting by tmrw night :)

Unless they are my clowns...lol.. I just found new homes for most of my anemones after 2 1/2 and clowns not liking any of them, needed to free up some space.

Quick update thanks so much for the help everyone! The anemone is still in the same spot and I was worried about nothing! Also the clowns are loving bedding down in it I will try to get some more pics tomorrow!

LTA always have a bright red foot you can usually spot a mile away, that and spotted veracue

Good to hear, it will be nice to see what it looks like relaxed and opened up, and w/ clowns hosted.

Hey everyone I just wanted to update on the anenome! It seems to really like being in the corner of the rock work right there and has seemed to put its foot in pretty good. It does seem to shy away from the light quite a bit and doesn’t really like if I turn on the wave pumps. What does everyone think does he still look healthy or should I be making some adjustments for him? Thanks again for any and all opinions!

He also deflates occasionally and shrinks up. Is that normal also?

Completely normal for it to do so.

Many anemones shrink up in the evening, expel waste and reinflate with water to adjust or various reasons including evening hours. I have 19 BTA's in a tank and several do it at different times.

You are probably seeing it close up when lights are low or off would be my guess, deflation in the manner such as a bacterial infection looks obvious and horrid, and I'm not sure if crispa are even prone to that, at least I have not seen it so far.

It looks very healthy, it's probably still adjusting to tank params and lighting, but I would expect to see it stretch out for more light at some point, and expect they can get big in time. My last crispa was 2' in diameter, and stretched from sand bed to surface in my 180g

Thanks for the input everyone I just want to make sure I'm keeping this guy healthy as possible!! I haven't gotten rid of him we love it and have enjoyed seeing how it has acclimated to the tank!!

Nice one for sure. You wrote that it was one you had. You didn't get rid of this beauty, did you?

Things change w/ life, I had that nem for 5 and a half years, but it sold w/ tank when I had to downsize.

I don't mind though, I've grown to like my magnifica better, and at that time we just weren't having success w/ mags and other nems, but that has changed mainly due to cipro treatment.

The whole clown/nem part of this hobby has made big changes, and now we are better suited for keeping natural host matches for our clowns.

Mags are natural for percs, crispa is not, and percs are my personal choice, and I definitely do not miss the maroon that was hosted by that crispa!

I totally get it. Been there myself my friend. And I certainly don't miss the monster, Maroon Momma drawing my blood everytime my hand was in the tank while she guarded her crispa. argh

What are the thoughts of adding a second nem to a tank? I have one that had been on the same rock since I go it. I’m able to move the rock and he (or she) stays put. My LFS is having a sweet deal on corals and nems right now. $59 for a $120 nem. If I add a second one should it be away from the first?
