Anemone problems

Glad to see it's looking better!
Would your be able to advise With the lights I have what kind of setting would you run them how much blue is best and what intensity. I can adjust them on the control unit.

This might help

I have 1ea I use to grow macro in my overflow box and I find it works for that. I do have 9ea 360's over my 36" deep tank. 10" above the water. I run them at about 50 int. / 40 color. I would start off low and work up

Thank you that has helped a lot

Hey guys today the anemone is back down deflated all water readings are the same. Is it just normal for it to do this. It hasn’t moved either just in the same place.

I'd up your lighting some. 30-40% color (mid day) and 50% intensity.

Yes lighting is at that mid day with lower at am and pm for 1 hour when they turn off. Just done a larger water change but I don’t think I’d would be that as all parameters are how the was the other day when it looked fine.

It definitely looks sad today. The good news is that it is still attached and the mouth isn't gaping a lot. My guess would be that the system parameters are simply fluctuating too much. There really is nothing you can do about this other than letting the system continue to mature. your test results may not show it, but things like pH, alk and Ca, will be a bit all over the place for a while. Many things in a new tank will fluctuate constantly throughout the day. This is the main reason people say to wait at least 6 months before adding an anemone to a system, a year is even better. I can take this long for a tank to truly stabilize.

For now, I would just continue with the regular water changes and try not to make other changes, light lighting or flow, unless absolutely necessary. Hopefully the fluctuations are minor and the nem will be able to ride it out.

Thank you that makes total sense. It seems fine for about 3-4 days then has a day like this. Hopefully be fine again soon.

Only just realised my return pump has 20 settings on it I only had it set at 4 and the max return on the pump is 8000lh Iv just adjusted everything and set it at setting 10. Is that ok 4000lph to the sump and it’s a Red Sea reefer 350l tank including the sump. Thanks again

That is fine. Also, you will not get the full flow you think because of the pressure from the plumbing, head height, elbows, etc. I would guestimate that at a standard head height with some restriction from the plumbing itself, the flow is probably closer to 2500lh. This is just a guess though, either way it will not be 4000lh.

Thank you so would you up it to a higher level than 10 if the max is 20 and says that’s 8000lph even tho it would be less as you said. What should my return flow be? Thank you

Nope. I actually have quite slow flow through the sump. Most of the flow is made via powerheads. The sump does not require a lot of flow to do its job. The higher the flow through the sump, generally the more noise is produced.

Perfect thank you. I have two wave maker power heads all added up the flow would be about 7500lph so I think it should be ok at that. Thanks again
