Anemone Propagation.

Yeah I remember ur blue. He was very nice!

I think fresh sea water from Florida if it's clear would be great. Most of the water in all the oceans around the globe is very very similar in Chemistry. I think he would do well.

Always wanted to live in Destin, FL. I would throw a mag 18 in the ocean and pump into a large water reservoir on low-Boy trailer and never mix salt or buy it again. :-)

gotcha... i thought about trying with my smaller multi-colored one. it has doubled in size and is coloring up so nicely that there is no way i'm trying it now. lol as it stands now, my 2 multi's both look like shaggy carpets and are just plain awesome! no way i'm risking them. the blue is gaining color, but still acclimating. if i find another healthy one i might follow your advice about making sure it's very healthy / acclimated and then trying.

you might be right about the collector and constant fresh sea water... i only live a couple minutes from the beach. think it might be worth the extra effort to get fresh sea water as opposed to aged reef tank water? i'm asking in reference to trying to propagate a gig down the road. probably would be better in the area they were actually collected in, but might have added value naturally compared to made up reef tank water. thoughts?

I have cut a gig before into 4. Only 3 of the 4 made it. I believe it was because the mouth in the 4th was very small. It moved a little when cutting. I could have been lucky on getting 3 to survive. But with bubble tips I've never lost one. I keep a small dinner plate in the sump and use a new razor blade each time I want to cut them. Just rinse the razor in a cup of water before each cut and make the cut count. Don't be afraid and make sure the anemone is not able to slide all over the place.

Do you have any pictures of this gig propagation? Where are the three survivors?

Any pictures of them currently?

I have to look on my Dropbox for older pics of them after fragging. I have sold off 2 of them and only have one right now. Will post some pics of them once I locate the pictures for you.

Nice, real nice.

About btas, they are easy to propagate. I don't feed a week before or a week after feeding. I don't want anything that can infect them near them.

Aptasia are the easiest to propagate. Just three easy steps just pluck aptasia, run it through power head, and watch lots of them grow. For best results wait till there about 1.5". :eyebrows:

Aneomone

My original rose bubble tip anemone got caught up in a power head and looked to be in pretty bad shape. I divided the nem at that point and it both came back without any problems. It has since divided on it’s own and know I have 4 that are doing well now for over 5 years.

RB'a's are easy

For me RBA's are easy. Change their settled position in the tank, do I a large water change or move to a different tank. Plus feeding themhelps some if they jusy get larger instead.
