I want to begin acquiring some wild caught BTA's but I want to setup a quarantine tank to protect my existing nems.

My initial thought is to setup a 20 gallon long with an ocean revive led light.
PVC pieces will be used for the nems to bury their foots.

Does the tank need a skimmer?

I have a Seneye monitor, what PAR should I shoot for?

How long should quarantine last?

Anything else I am missing?

You could install a skimmer if its going to be a while (more than a month) and you don't want to do as many water changes.

Not really sure on par or how long to quarantine anemones, what are you trying to protect your others from? Pests or disease?

I have read that new nems can bring in a bacterial infection that could be passed to existing nems. That is why I was looking to setup a qt. I have too much money invested in my existing ones and have read about new ones coming in and wiping all the old ones out.

Okay, I can see why you would want to quarantine them then!

any other ideas?

I think ill stick with the 20 long and egg crate off a pieces so I can put in a small skimmer I have.

Ill probably not run a HOB filter so the nem does not get sucked in my accident.

Anything else I'm missing?

I know this is an old thread but I'm currently looking to purchase a bta. How long did you qt for? And how did you keep it safe from any power heads?

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
