someone local to me is breaking down his tank. He has a bubble tip that’s about 12” across on a 12” rock. What’s the best way to make sure he takes to the new tank? Should I dip the rock and nem? I am a little worried about getting an unwanted hitchhiker on the rock.

Dipping anemones can be deadly. You can do it with iodine but it’s not going to a crazy amount, not to mention it will absorb whatever you use then leech it out into your tank. Your best bet is to ask him to blast it with powerheads so it moves and then scoop it out, but that doesn’t always work unfortunately.

Just acclimate it and put it in. Or you can take your time removing the foot from the rock if you canget too it and then treat the rock.

I’m torn between taking the risk and passing. I really don’t want to get anything nasty. My other question is how likely is a mature nem of that size likely to survive a tank transfer?

If at all possible, I’d like to not have to use the rock he is currently on. I read sompleace that if I suspend the rock upside down outnof the water over a bucket of tank water it should drop off the rock. Anyone ever try this? How long can he safely be out of water?

they are pretty tough, i accidentally ripped mine halfway through and it ended up splitting. I usually remove them with ice/frozen RO or normal ice in a bag. ice the FOOT and it will come off easy.
