Hello. I have had this RBTA for two months. About a week ago, it started to shift slightly to right of where it has been. It gets fed some fish food two to three times a week (Rod's Frenzy) and has always ate well.

A week ago, I came home to an issue with the ATO. My salinity had dropped to 1.021 and it has been at 1.025 since then (probably no more than 6 hours of the salinity slowly lowering down). The day before I had also switch to an new light and have been acclimating at 50% for 30 days.

The last week, the anemone has traveled all over the rocks. Initially, it went lower, then yesterday was in the middle and open and now today higher hiding under a ledge. I am seeing what looks like a mucus trail where it goes and today I saw these clumps of darker material in the trail. It won't fully open and while it will hold food, it isn't actively eating. Any thoughts on why it is upset? I originally thought it was the light, but I can't seem to figure out why after a week it still isn't happy.

Nitrates 10 ppm
Salinity 1.025
Ammonia and nitrite 0
pH 8.3
Temp 77.8

Take a look at light and flow. Chances are, your Bubble Tip Anemone will move around the tank until it finds a suitable spot to call home. If it starts to move towards any coral, simply direct your water jets to the coral. This will discourage the anemone from anchoring near it. It will move to another area to attach.
Bubble Tip Anemone lighting is a very important aspect of their care. These creatures need a lot of light to thrive because they’re photosynthetic which means that they absorb light to produce food and growth. The anemone has zooxanthellae in its body, which are symbiotic microorganisms that they feed on. Without proper lighting, the anemone will expel the zooxanthellae and turn white. This process is called bleaching and often leads to death.
A moderate amount of flow is recommended. Many aquarists soon find out that too much flow will cause the anemone to stretch out and look stringy. Keeping things moderate will help avoid this from happening. Avoid directing your flow directly at the anemone. These creatures enjoy subtle movement at all times but too much direct flow hitting the anemone will force it to move.

Thanks. I haven't changed flow.

When I started the new light (AI prime using the pirates of the carribean program), the anemone quickly moved to the bottom as if the lights were too bright. It continues to hide under ledges even with the program only at 50%. Would it be that it needs more light? I thought if it didn't like the new light, it would move up the rocks to get more and not hide

My guess is it’s the new light. Also stop feeding till it’s back out and open, that’ll stress it more. If it wasn’t getting enough light it wouldn’t be hiding under a rock. It would be trying to go up and get more light. I think your lights are still to strong at 50% acclimation

They actually prefer to have their feet underneath ledges in my experience. They will pretty much move with any changes at all, and changing several things can have them splitting. Just keep things consistent, watch it dont go in powerheads etc. It will settle eventually. I find they like direct feeding too once or twice a week

Yes, when bright, they go into hiding. try prime setting:
Blue- 70
White 12
violet 50
green 5
red 8
UV-40
