Hello, guys! My name is hakim from Indonesia. And in this post i want some opininons from you guys about an "incident" that i have. You see, are you familliar with the hermit crab/anemone symbiosis? Basically the hermit crab picks up an anemone and puts it on its own shell. The anemone provides protection for the crab, and the crab feeds the anemone. So, what happwnes is that my blue leg hermit crab picked up the majano/BTA anemone when it was in my isolation chamber, and put it on its shell, and the anemone looks a bit happy? But the thing is i dont know if the anemone is a majano or a BTA, so i dont know whether to let the hermit crab do its thing, or to interfere. Here is some pictures

I hope you guys can help!

Welcome to R2R. It looks like a majano to me. Still pretty cool to see it happen.

Majano

Thank you for clarifying! I was actually rooting for majano, but still unsure because the tentacles (when happy) looks like a normal BTA! Thank you! But, should i let the crab do its thing? Or to interfere?

Thats a hard answer to give, but if you want the majano, i would leave it alone on the shell, scraping it off could kill it, and blasting the poor crab with a powerhead to get it off is just mean to the crab, but also watch the tank for a few days to see if it detaches and goes onto a rock or if you find it on the sand bed trying to attach to something. This way you can get it before it gets buried(if you run sand)

Ok! I will do it! I actually want the majano, as a head start before going to legit anemones (BTAs).

You may come to regret that decision....
They are considered pests for a reason....

Well, yes. But ive heard a couple times that they are not as destructive as aiptasia? Basically because i like it and its free! I will not put it on rocks though, if it ever detaches, only on the glass
