Awesome! They do that when they are fed regularly. But, sometimes if they are not well they will too. Does it look normal? Mine are a bit stringy right after splitting fyi.

Nems are fascinating due to their almost fish like personality doing what they want when they want where they want including splitting.

be cool to see some pics.

It wasn’t eating for a couple days and I thought it was dying then boom it’s two of them. OMG total shock
Sounds very similar to mine when it split, stoped eating shrunk down moved into a cave an used that as leverage to pull itself apart.

how big are they? If they are. Decent size sounds like A normal split.

I wasn’t too happy to see my almost dinner plate split. But it does look cool once they heal if they decide to sit together and almost form a colony

As others have said this can either be a good thing or a last ditch effort at survival. As long as you meet the needs of anemone then congratulations.

Good deal, i have had mine a year, and between the clown feeding it and what they pick up when i broadcast feed the fish they have been quite prolific, as in there are now 7 and that after selling 3.
Wow. What do you feed them?! Mine doesn’t like silversides. Well not whole. They like them chopped up. I’m trying to find something easier. They haven’t hosted the clown fish yet. At least I haven’t seen them bonding as of yet.

Mine just eat what ever they can catch. Mysis, spirulina brine shrimp, small pieces of rods fish only. I hardy ever directly feed them. The one in the center of the photo is about 14" across. The other one is about 8 now

When hosting a clown I dont feed only cause mine wasn’t intrested the couple of times I tried.

For ones not being hosted once a week to once a fortnight I may directly feed some of what ever I’m feeding the tank.

But otherwise it’s up to the nem to catch its own meal or the clown to feed it.

Diced clam, shrimp puree, muscle, squid, and mysis is what i feed the fish. They get what they get, i dont target feed them.

Nem island:

I try to keep them happy there so they dont go wandering. So far i have had 2 move to the zoa rock and need moved, but theyve otherwise been happy on their island.

Everything I’ve read has said that splitting any more than once a year or so is likely due to stress or unfavorable conditions, that healthy anemones will put resources into sexual reproduction and that frequent splitting is more of a survival strategy (if conditions are unfavorable they will split to double the odds of their genetics surviving) than a propagation strategy. I’m not saying that that is the case with yours or the OP’s, but just in general if your anemone is splitting often, there is likely something off (water chemistry, lighting, flow), or something irritating it.

No it hasn’t been a year yet. He just did it. They like the rock with the algae so hopefully this helps them heal.

Looks fine for a recent split give it 2-3 weeks and they will be back to normal and you will likely find the split turns out to be a bit bigger once it heals and settles in.
