Anemone Shrinking

Hello,

I have no idea what is going on, at night my anemone is a tiny little ball you can't even tell that it's hiding in that rock hole, but during the day its a lot larger, the photo I have attached is when it's only half extended it spreads a lot further.

Question is has anyone seen such massive differences in size for a nem? My clown fish are not happy that he disappears every night

My last anenome would shrink to just abit bigger than half at night but I've never had one that just disappears when it's that big!

Mine does this and I think a part of it is to avoid my clownfish’s attentions. She puffs up nicely during the day when they leave her alone.

Most likely just natural if it fully closes or gets close too it it could be low alkalinity. Unsure

Normally anemone do not contracted that much days in and days out. Do you dose Kalk or BiCarb at night? Spike in pH often irritated anemones and cause them to contract.

mine do that at night sometimes, I wouldn't worry about it

Just for another datapoint mine do the same. It’s like clockwork. As day lights turn off they go from 6”+ to pinballs. About two hours later they are back out.

Thank you all makes me more relaxed knowing its fairly normal, yea it seems to do it every night after lights out this is the morning times. I just have never seen such drastic changes in size but then again his foot is well into that rock as its one of the entries to the cave under the rock so it's retracting to be inside the rock

I have to re test my parameters as its been a few days since my last water change but it always seems happy during the day and it has never moved from its current spot since the day after I placed him into the tank

Unless it’s a very shallow tank, you need something closer to 100w than 10.
