About a month ago my 3” around bubble tip decided to split which I thought was cool. While last Tuesday half of it decided to split again. Is this a good thing or is there something wrong? The new split pieces have a lot of different colors like a rainbow.

It’s a good thing. Until you get too many :)

Some people believe that the are morphs of BTAs that remain relatively small --under 6"--and split frequently. If you don't mind the splits, then you're in good shape.

Yeah - without history on the particular strain he has, its tough to tell. I've seen BTAs split under stress events, and I'm a bit concerned with a second split in a month- because that's soon - and it could be a last ditch reproduction thing.

But BTAs tend to do a pretty decent job telegraphing their health - and those look pretty good - so I'd just keep an eye on them, but not worry too much.

Thanks for the input. I am having a Dino outbreak last few days an they split right before it, I think the out break was caused by low phos and the addition of my new reefi lights getting stuck on. Adding uv sterilizer tonight for the Dino’s. Hope they don’t split again my new 90gal tank is not ready for them yet lol
