So excited my anemone split last night. I am worried because we’re on vacation and wondering if it split because of stress. I know my Nitrates are up at 70ppm. And Phosphates are also up at .14. Everything else looks great.

Think everything will be ok until I return on 1/3, or should I have someone service my tank while I’m away?

Congrats and this is a cool feature to monitor your tank. If you can have someone come by to do service it might not be a bad idea.

Thank you for sharing this. It is beautiful!

Thank you! It’s a Wyze camera. I think only $25. We even get sound and motion alerts. It’s a great little device!

The only concerns I'd have are pump intakes, and maybe wandering and stinging corals in it's path.

The pump intakes would be my biggest concern, so as long as they are covered or far away from nem your tank overall would be ok.

^^^yes.

Man...I wish I have setup a cam like yours. Only you know your tank. I know my tank can go 4 weeks without a WC. So regardless of nitrate swing, it will be ok. I hope it's the same in your case. Btw, I don't feed while I'm on vacation. It has always worked out well.

My wave maker is covered. You can kind of see it on the top right. But they are also away from my nems.

I never thought about not feeding. I hate using an auto feeder.

It depends on livestock, I couldn't skip feedings w/ my anthias.

I personally love my eheim auto feeder, but if I'm on a real vacation I have daily doses of food set up for someone to drop in.

We should probably try to figure why your nitrates are that high, are you using filter pads and or socks?
What's your filtration?

I have gone 10 days without feeding clownfish, dwarf angels and wrasses just fine. The only difference this time around is the powder blue. I hope it is ok. It eats nonstop.

I just started using Filter Floss. Have a media reactor set up using bio pellets. I couldn’t get the group running properly in it. I also have a Skimmer and chemiblue. But I just started with the chemi blue a week ago. Filter floss went in on Monday. I didn’t have much visible algae so I didn’t test for a while. Anything else I should be doing?

I would have suspected you were already using floss, or filter pads, and or socks as all of those can raise nitrates if not changed often enough.
Crushed coral also can raise nitrates.

Hard to say just yet, other than stay on top of good WC's when you get back, maybe post a thread then on getting that down a bit.

I’m away 16 days. I only have my nems, coral and a purple firefish.

Great idea. I thought I had it under control. I had chaeto in the back of my aio with lighting. But realized the day before leaving, my media reactor dumped a bunch of gfo into the chamber, which killed all of that chaeto. Hadn’t done a WC in 2 weeks before I left., so I didn’t notice til the next WC.

Be careful w/ GFO, too much can cause a swing in alk.
The chaeto dying off could also release nutrients they were absorbing, though it's probably not a lot, it's not a step in the direction we'd like.
I'd just plan to step in w/ some good WC's when you get back, preferably weekly if you can

Will do. Thanks for the help!

Maybe they survived, but that is a long time to go w/out feeding.
I could not go that long comfortably, 3 days would probably be my max, and even that I would feel kinda bad, but I guess type of fish could make the difference, as well as what your tank may provide in greens or pods
