Not sure how to remedy this or what is going on.
I bought a rose BTA about a year ago from a LFS. Local guy supples them because he has one that splits like crazy. Anyway, LFS is now out of business so I can’t track down answers.
It has split twice since then but the “new” smaller part dies in a few days.
Water parameters are good.
Phos- .04
Nitrates- less than 10
Salinity 1.024
Ph 8.31
Any suggestions for next time it splits?

If you have means, you can remove the smaller split and place it in its own QT tank, though I'm not sure why it's dying in the first place. Water parameters seem fine. What happens to the split? Does it just deflate and die?

Yes it deflates and dies

Does your anemone grow and then split or just keep splitting?Anemones split for two known reasons. One is they are happy with where they are at and want to reproduce, the other is they feel like the conditions aren't suitable and split to raise the chance of survivability.

It definitely grows then splits.
I have a green BTA, that is really big but never splits. Weird.
But like I said, this one is an offspring of someone else’s BTA that splits like crazy. When I bought this one, it was the 23rd split!!!! Unfortunately I can’t track down the original owner for help.

To add more to what I do.
I feed my anemome 4 to 5 times a week a small amount. Like a few pieces of frozen mysis or half a piece of frozen krill.
I never liked how they responded to feeding large servings weekly or every two weeks.
Seems more natural that they would catch a little something everyday in the wild or if they were hosting.

My opinion is that you are feeding your anemone too often which is triggering it to split. Many of us only feed once or twice a week if we are looking for growth, and not at all or once per month if we are happy with the size it is.

Exactly ^^^^^

That is possible.
But why doesn’t my green one split? It’s only the rose.
But splitting isn’t the problem, I’m wondering why the new split dies in a day or two.

Could be multiple reasons one splits and the other doesn't, size, species, etc.

And I beg to differ, splitting IS the problem, if it didn't split half wouldn't die. I would try not feeding or cutting down your feeding.

I never looked at it that way. Always thought of splitting as a good thing. Procreation isn’t a problem. .
It’s to much of a good thing.

Take photos the next time is happens. Seems like a strange occurrence and it would help if we could see what's going on.

It's healthiest when a BTA splits evenly. If it's more like a bud, sometimes they don't fully form correctly (such as not having a properly formed mouth) which could explain why they die so quickly.

I think I may have solved my issue.
My refractometer was out of calibration.
I was running at 1.019. Really, I was struggling with low Calcium and alk. Had to keep supplementing. Finally thought this isn’t right.
My tank isn’t full of SPS. We will see.
