Rock flowers move the least, then mini maxis, then bubble tips. They will all move were they want to go no matter what though. Most don't prefer that much light as well. So your chances aren't too good of it staying there.
(I have over 10 anemones in my tank)

thanks for the info! i currently have 2 rockflowers and only one has left his original placement so far!

would it move off the shelf by crawling down the acrylic wall?

In theory it could but whats most likely going to happen is, it's going to detach itself, and float with the current to a rock, then crawl to a darker/dim area while it adjusts to your system, then move to a place it likes or at worst case scenario(sorry to bring it up) get sucked into the powerhead(since you dont have an anemone guard on it) It could work, but it's more then likely not going to as anemones have minds of their own and were want them to go, they can say no LOL
I have from what i can recall, 6 mini maxis, 6 rock flowers, and 1 bubble tip. I love them. Beautiful creatures.

RFAs are not host anemones.

As previously mentioned, there's no guarantee that any anemone will stay on that shelf. BTAs typically like to hide their foot in a crevice, so the likelihood of it staying on that shelf is relatively low. The only anemone I can think of that likes flat surfaces like that is H. magnifica, but it'll most likely climb up the wall. If they can sense any wall (via a tentacle touching it) they'll climb up it.

*cough* Shameless poll thread plug *cough*

Oh yea- or they just decide to detach and float around until they land someplace and walk to wherever they want to go. They're very interesting creatures. I have 3 bta's. One is splitting right now. I do have a Ruby Mini Maxi that moves a lot too. But the BTA is very independent. Theres no way to make it stay put.

Maybe try a hammer coral? Sometimes clowns will host them but theres a chance he may disturb the coral. Maybe even a gsp wall? Sometimes they bash up against those but he doesn't necessarily need to host in anything.

Put a magnifica but it will move But most likely stay somewhere on the back wall. My second vote is a elegance coral from Australia. Could also host your clowns. Third vote is a torch.
