Anemone walking

Anemones do move around. I’m not an expert so hope someone else chimes in.

What kind of anemone? Some anemones will move because they are searching for an environment that suites them. If the anemone is close to corals, then the corals will get stung.

It’s a black widow bubble tip. It about right in top of a patch of zoas right now

I usually let it move around and find a spot first. Then, I move/frag the corals around it.

Bubble tips usually nestle in pretty quick. Did you just purchase it?

It has been in my tank about three weeks and hasn’t moved from the day I placed it. I have been running t-5’s but over the last week slowly acclimating the corals to my new kessil a360we because that is what will be over my new tank once I move them

Mine moves from time to time. Right now it resides right next to a Paly colony. Been there a while, no damage to the Paly's

I had the same issue with a bubble tip not being happy and always searching for a spot it liked. A friend of mine explained to me that it's all about protection and food, she gave me a piece of rock with a 1" hole in it that went all the way through the rock and told me to carefully stick it's foot in there and let it attach then place the rock where you want it. Once it starts to open, feed it a few times over a week and it'll stay put. Worked liked a charm for me as it hasn't moved since. The opposite end of the hole can be placed down on the sand bed or up against another rock as they're just searching for a spot that they can retreat into if they feel threatened. Hope this helps.

So my anemone has finally stopped moving. Unfortunately it was on the return jet. I was going to do a water change tonight but not sure how to handle this. Any advice is appreciated.

In my experience, a nem moving all the way to the top of the tank means it wants more light

Hmm. I run 4 t5’s and a kessil a360we on a 92g corner tank. I have a second kessil I could add that just seems like a ton of light.

I have a BTA that’s still moving. Frequently when I go to do a water change, he’ll be on the glass near the top. I just do a water change anyway. If he doesn’t like it, he’ll move or let go.

It should be perfectly fine to be out of water for a bit. Some live in intertidal zones where they can survive for hours out of water... that said if it’s already stressed from something else this could add more. Generally it will either move or let go as said...
