I just got this guy this weekend. I don’t have a clue what it is, condy or BTA? LFS said BTA but I’m not sure. Meet Mr. McKracken (kids picked the name)

He settled on a rock shortly after coming out of container but worked his way around to the back of the tank.

First placement

He “walked” around to the back and down towards the sand bed. He would spread out some and then close up.

Being ignorant/stupid I couldn’t just leave him alone and I thought I should move him back to the front so we could see him.

I set him in a different spot and he opened up and once again began his march of defiance. This time he went up through the archway and settled halfway through.

Second placement before the march

And here is how he decided to settle. Hanging upside down!

I will leave him be and decide where he wants to stay.

So what are your thoughts??

He looks really cool. I bet once he settles he will be way bigger. Be sure to cover wave makers and overflows. I learned the hard way. I'm not an expert but it looks more like a bta than a condy to me. Definitely leave him alone. They are stubborn and will do what they choose so the added stress is not worth it.

+1 for bta. Question? what light do you have on the tank?

It’s just one of those black box leds. 165watt according to the sticker. No name or anything. It does have two control knobs to change intensity but no setting marks . The white is on just enough to turn on. Blues are about half way on.
