Params?
Age of tank?
Lighting?
Other tank inhabitants?
So 700 running at 1% it’s staying in the shade of the tank wondering if I should move it to a lighter area it’s a 25 gallon that’s been fully cycled added clown fish and water changes every 2 days all water was mixed from a 7 stage ro that’s been checked at the same salinity of 33 ppt I just recently purchased this

Sounds like the tank could be too new. Usually takes a few months for the tank to be established enough.

Nems do really like light so I wouldnt worry about too much light. Let it move where it wants and settle. The more you try to move it the more stressed it gets.

What test kit do you have and what are all your parameters?

When you add an Anemone you have to leave him alone. They move around a lot and have to find "Their spot."

Did you acclimate him properly? Normally you want to drip acclimate for at least an hour or so.

He’s also being fed the brightwell stuff

Nitrite -0 ammonia-0 nitrate-30-40
I didn’t think I need more since it was only one no point in dosing

Those numbers look ok...nitrate is high but some run around 20 so it's not going to kill anything. If your tank is too new exporting those naturally could pose an issue so you might need to export some of those nitrates with a water change.

Do you have alk, cal and mag yet?

Nems are coral and need those 3 to be pretty steady to live.

Same Nem ?????

"New tank"
is most likely the issue.
It could also be low salinity, alkalinity, tank temp.
Normally you dont feed them the first week.
Looks like a different one. I would say new tank still....

Gotta see what your alk, cal and mag is.

If those aren't in line it wont survive for long with unstable water.

I just checked them all there good. Yes the old anemone did die from getting into the filtration I did add a net to prevent that from happening again but today he looks really good I’m assuming the water changed had him stressed

Good Morning Brandon,

There is an expression; "A picture is worth a thousand words". Unfortunately, a thousand words aren't necessarily enough to solve a problem in this hobby. ;) Having a clownfish host a Nem is a very cool thing and can be mesmerizing to watch.

I understand the sense of urgency you're feeling; the Anemone doesn't look anything like it did in the display at the store and you want to protect your investment before it dies off for whatever reason.

You will find the information you receive here to be true and accurate. But the information you get out of the people here will only be as good as the information you put in. So it is important that you read the questions being asked and answer to the best of your ability.

From the bottom of my heart, I say this with all the kindness I can convey in written word; we need you to be more detailed in your information.

It isn't enough to tell us that you ALK, MAG and CAL are "good". You have to give us exact numbers as the relationship between test numbers is as important as the numbers themselves.

Also, you've been asked the tank age, which I haven't seen an answer to.

Posting a full tank shot will be helpful to us, as many of the answers we need can be gleaned from observing full tank shots.

As has already been mentioned, Anemones like light and flow. Once placed in the tank, you should let them be as they will move around the tank to a spot where light and flow are suitable to their taste.

So when you say you have "700 running at 1%", is that the Kessil AP700? And if so, are you saying that you have it turned all the way down to 1%? If this is the case, you may as well not have any light at all. And it may very well be the cause of your problem!

You have the right idea in that you don't want your light intensity too high during acclamation of the Nem. But I would set it at 50-60% to start.

In closing, reef chemistry is an exact science, so your answers need to be exact as well.

Keep us posted!

Yes to this! Very well put!

Some good advice so far. And I’ll add, how stable have your parameters been? Have they been swinging from day-to-day? Week-to-week? If your parameters swing, your anemone’s mood will swing as well. Lighting is of course of utmost importance as well.

First thing I would do is stop feeding and stop water changes every 2 days. Let it settle then you can resume feeding, if desired. In a tank that small, I wouldnt feed it at all though.
