Hi, I’ve got a green bubble tip anemone and ever since I’ve had him he has lost his bubbles completely and just looks dead. I’ve kept multiple anemones in the past in different tanks and I’ve never had them do this. When they died in my other tanks the just shrivel up and die that day but this one is like loosing its tentacles and half the body is inside the mouth it just looks very bad. Any help. I know everyone is going to ask what’s your parameters. To be honest No3 is at 40ppm but I’m the past with other tanks I’ve had high nitrates and the anemone never did what it’s doing in my current tank. It’s been shrinking like every day for the past month. All other parameters are good besides a little phosphate. I’m not sure what to do I almost wanna take him out because he makes my tank look sad. All my other corals in the tank are doing just fine but him. Here’s a picture.

Edit: Nvm I thought you meant losing tentacles

I have been feeding him every three days.

I have a friend who is a marine biologist and I finally touched base with her for my own problematic anemones! Anyway, mine would deflate and look sickly (to me) for 2-3 days at a time then the next be totally normal! She told me the best indication of health is how the "foot" looks. Mine always stayed pink and red and healthy, even when the arms looked dead. She says to leave them alone and monitor the foot. It could be that every 3 days is too often. I used to feed mine every 2-3 days, too, because it is so cool to watch. Now they each get a piece of shrimp once a week and catch whatever floats by. They actually seem to do better this way. I have 3--a BTA, a leather and a purple tip. They each take turns freaking me out by looking like they are dying! Also, she told me that many BTA lose their bubbles for a period and then sometimes they just come back. Montior the foot. That is the main take-away I got from her!

As a side note, from your picture, mine have done that also. They seem healthy and fine otherwise.

your feeding to much. stop feeding
In the past with keeping anemones I’ve always fed every 3 days for anemones and never had a problem in the past but I’ll do it maybe once a week and see if that helps. I’ve completely mad the switch to frozen food. I use to do frozen food one day and then dry food the next but I’m going to be staying away from dry.

10 nitrates are fine for the anemone , +1 to Webslinger I don't even feed my anemones

Why are you feeding it...they don't need it.
