Yea see I want to avoid that, my smaller nem was already not in the best shape as you can see in the photos it’s colors are not as good as the bigger one. But they both have been doing well as of late.I too recently bought a porcelain crab which annoyed my BTA to the point where it looks like it won’t recover. I’ve since rehomed the crab to my sons tank and have been crossing my fingers hoping my BTA recovers. Been doin a cipro full tank treatment. Nothing seems to have been bothered by the meds but my BTA doesn’t seem to be getting better or worse. To answer your question….not sure but I know it happens because it did indeed happen to me. Here’s a pic of the crab trying to force love my BTA but the BTA wasn’t having it.
I’m starting to see it may be normal for nems to close up at night. But the smaller nem I have will shrink up a bit during the day while the carb was hosting it, but since it moved on to the other nem it’s open and looking good. The bigger nem seems to tolerate it better.My BTA gets annoyed by my clown hosting it so I'm sure your crabs could annoy also.
does this happen at any point in the day? Only reason I ask is that your crabs maybe searching for food?
you could try feeding crab and anemone separately, feed your crab first then BTA
