Hey y’all just curious if it is best to buy a anemone or a clownfish pair? If one is better to purchase first? Or recommend both at the same time!
thank you

Depending on age of tank, you might be better to get clownfish first and anemone later once tank is more stable. Clownfish don't require an anemone and anemones don't require clownfish... its just cute having them together.

If you have corals, anemones can kill corals...

NOTE: clownfish don't automatically know they can go into anemone, but IF you run into that just reach out and your R2R friends will help you cross that bridge if it comes up in the future lol

I was planning to add a pair of clownfish tomorrow, I saw a small mocha clown at one store and a large ocellaris at another store. Currently tank is stocked with 2 green chromis and a yellow goby and 1 filefish

earlier when you wrote clownfish pair, I assumed same type. Mixing MAY work but you may have to rehome one of the two. Even when same species, if female decides male is deficient for any reason you may still have to rehome one of the two.

vote go for it, (assuming your tank size is sufficient) but always have backup plan

Clown first BUT assure in regards to anemone that the tank is both stable and mature prior to introduction. They are not fond of changes in nitrate and salinity and ph and in fact, even water changes. Light and water flow has adverse effect on anemones behaviors in which too much flow will cause them to move and too little to shrivel.
Too much light causes them to hide whereas too little to climb towards light and end up in power heads
