I read a post the other day somewhere and this fellow reefer got lit up for buying an Anemone and placing it in an "immature" tank. Anemone was not doing well so the other reefers jumped him pretty hard. The situation really boiled my blood. Why?

I have a new tank maybe 45 - 60 days old and I have added two anemones and they are thriving and doing well. I had expert advice from a local LFS guiding me through the whole process from setup to placing the fish in the tank. Had one scare but wound up just being normal anemone behavior.

I just am not sure there was a reason to come down so hard on the reefer for adding what he thought was OK. We love and learn in this hobby and bashing someone is completely I appropriate. It was not this forum but another. Opinions??

I also added a anemone about 2 months into my tank at it thrived after a week or so however what hurt it was me trying to move it out of its dumb positions e.g. inside a cave however I was later informed that it will find its own spot no matter what I do. I agree bashing is inappropriate but some people take concern for the animal out of hand. I'm not sure how severe what you saw was but some seems to be okay.

Here’s an article by @Crabs McJones on why you should wait until 8-12 months before adding an anemone
